2009 Golden Spike Awards

Yesterday I attended the 2009 Golden Spike Awards presented by the Greater Salt Lake Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and the Utah Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.
I like how those two organizations partner here in Salt Lake to produce this annual awards program. It makes for good economies of scale and brings like minded professionals together.
I had the privilege of being nominated as the public relations professional of the year as part of this year’s awards. However, the recognition went to a colleague, Jason Mathis, who directs public relations efforts for the Downtown Alliance. Jason is a very well deserving recipient and has done some tremendous work on behalf of Downtown Alliance, Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake Chamber. Congratulations, Jason.
There were a couple agencies that walked away with a handful of awards, as well as one of the companies with which I’ve done some consulting this year, MountainStar.
Congratulations to all the award recipients on a job well done!
