Have you heard of HARO?
All you public relations practitioners out there…
- If you have stories to pitch,
- If you represent clients that want to be included in the media (any kind of media),
- If you want to stay up on your game and participate in the discussion…
I highly recommend a service by Peter Shankman called Help A Reporter Out (HARO).
The premise of HARO is to connect reporters and their queries for interviews with public relations practitioners and their clients.
There are a few common sense rules to participate, like only responding to reporters when you legitimately have something to add to the conversation, and basically not being a pinhead.
The service is based on mutual trust and support and is completely free.
I don’t know how many of you have paid for a service like this (as I have), but I have found Peter’s approach to be refreshing and helpful.
