Obama won because of better marketing

As an Accredited Public Relations counselor and professional business communicator I cannot agree more with BusinessWeek’s claim that better marketing is what got Barack Obama elected.
When it comes right down to it, the art of communicating effectively is when you persuade people to your point of view. Nowhere is that process more apparent then in an election.
From the very beginning Sen. Obama ran on a platform of change. It was only later in the game when McCain’s campaign began sending the same message, with limited success because of his party affiliation.
What we’ve learned from Barack Obama is that either he’s smart enough to run an excellent campaign or he’s wise enough to surround himself with others who know how to run an excellent campaign. They truly raised the bar for U.S. presidential elections in more ways than just fundraising.
Let’s hope President Elect Obama now has the tenacity, courage and wisdom to run the U.S. federal government like he did his campaign.
